If you're fond of drag Ivor, you might enjoy the Swedish comedy, "Picassos Aventyr" (1978).
Perfectly cast are Wilfrid as Alice B. Toklas, and Bernie Cribbins as Gertrude Stein.
Their resemblance to that famous literary pair is hilariously startling!

Not especially fond of it, but when it's done well it can be funny. Drag performers over there are different than they are here. Drag performers here go out of their way to be either extremely effeminate (to an unbelievable degree) or extremely offensive. It's not the same thing. When you can see a man walk on stage in women's attire, displaying all the mannerisms of a woman, and speaking with a woman's voice and not suspect that he is anything other than a woman, then he's doing it right. What we get here are nothing more than flaming queens in dresses with way too much makeup that either giggle like little girls or swear like sailors and most are like watching a trainwreck. You're horrified, but can't seem to look away.
I also found this short video starring Terry Scott preparing for a pantomime performance a while ago that was interesting.

I have no illusions about continental karsi’s, but imagine Albert and Harold’s surprise had they not been chucked out of France (Pilgrims Progress). If they didn’t know what a bidet is for (The Bath) and stare in awe at black porcelain (Without Prejudice).....then imagine their dismay when they discover they have to stand up .
"Shattered", then you're a Rolling Stones fan Ivor, like our Guv: bob.
Not a bad single actually, but as their later LP's go, Goats Head Soup was way better .

I just noticed something. In that scene, is the costume Hawtrey is wearing the same one that he wore in Carry On Constable when he and Kenneth Williams went undercover in drag together?
