What's ironic is that in real life Reg Varney was a fully qualified bus driver and Bob Grant really worked as a conductor between acting jobs in the early days of his career.

Varney was the first ever person in England to use a cash machine!!! I've won many a pint from my mates with that otherwise useless fact.

I dont know much of his work away from OTB but I think he played Stan well. Im not sure how hed have handled any real acting though.

Interesting connection... Wilfrid Brambell also played piano.

The cash machine bit is an extra on one of the DVDs too, can`t remember which series, 6?
