Frankie Boyle is doing a UK tour next summer :o he is in Glasgow for a few dates in June.
I hope to go and see him....health permitting.

Just got his latest book 'Work Consume Die' though it's mainly extracts from his column in Fridays Scottish Sun.

EDIT - Frankie is in Glasgow for 3 nights in August 8)

I just spent the evening watching three of the new releases.

Jimmy Carr's new DVD is great as always, but a little samey in places.

JOHN CLEESE has his first ever stand up dvd out - it's brilliant - it's more gentle in approach then you would expect and is actually more of a presentation of his career, with the occasional short clip from his past, but it's not a clip show, it takes up very little time. Cleese should do more and I can't believe he hasn't done on before. THE ALIMONY TOUR, check it out.

The best was Sarah Millican's "Chatterbox". Perhaps it's because I'm a fellow north easterner but this canny lass never fails to amuse me. The DVD is fantastic. We need more women in stand up. Though she is far ruder than on TV!!!

Next I think I'll check out Jeff Dunham's and Jason Manford's!! But I recommend any of the previous three titles, I had no idea Cleese's show existed, how I'd have loved tickets for that!!

I used to like Reginald D/ Hunter until I saw his DVD... more racist than Bernard Manning and Chubby Brown put together.

My 2 favourites are Richard Pryor and Lee Evans. Pryor for his sheer groundbreaking brilliance and Evans just because every story he comes out with is something everybody can relate to

Lee Evans is a good Norman Wisdom impersonator yes, I like his film work, and I also think he is a great musician... he is definitely a show man

Strangely enough he's always said that Wisdom wasn't that big an influence on him. Yeah right lol

Well his physical resemblence is obviously a natural thing whether he was an influence or not. In his sitcom he basically played Frank Spencer and acted out a script from Steptoe...he's very talented, but I think he's also been very lucky too

HITLS... You got off with a short Ken Dodd show!!

I saw him a few times, once he did a very short show, it was only 5 hours long. The rest were 7 hours on average, one topped out at 8. The first time we thought he'd missed the interval, like you we thought it would be 2 - 2 1/2 hours.. how little we knew... the man is a master and the only surviving genius of stand up comedy.

Doddy is amazing... no modern comic comes close, yet he trained a lot of them. Ken Dodd IS comedy.
