Steptoe and Son (S01E04) The Economist (BBC) 2014 RESTORED - VidFIRE(D) (7800kbps CBR PCM) - DVD / ISO Image

This is a completely NEW restoration, which was only completed, during the early hours of this morning.

Don't delay, as these are not going to be available indefinitely, at the place they currently reside...!!!

Please note: WinRAR will be needed, to join the two files below back together, before you'll be able to burn it off to a DVD.

You can download WinRAR from the link that follows: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Steptoe and Son (S01E04) The Economist (BBC) 2014 RESTORED - VidFIRE(D) (7800kbps CBR PCM) For CRT TV

For CRT TV: As part of the restoration this has also been stabilised. If you were to watch this on a LCD TV / monitor and then take a look at the extremities of the frame, the top and bottom, you'll be able to see the stabilising process in action. When watched back on a CRT however, this is hidden by a CRT TVs overscan (the situation when not all of a televised image is present on a viewing screen), so won't get in the way of your viewing / become a distraction.

The above 2 files, will be deleted on: 4 November, 2014

Steptoe and Son (S01E04) The Economist (BBC) 2014 RESTORED - VidFIRE(D) (7800kbps CBR PCM) For LCD TV

For LCD TV: As part of the restoration this has also been stabilised. I’ve slightly cropped this restoration so you’ll not be able to see the stabilising process in action at the extremities of the frame, the top and bottom. The reason for doing this (as LCD TVs / monitors don't use overscan), is so the stabilising process doesn’t get in the way of your viewing / become a distraction.

Again, although I’ve seen this episode many many times (like most of you), I’ve never experienced the feeling of intimacy that reinstating the video-look (the VidFIRE) has given to this particular restoration.

Indeed, it’s like you’re watching something you’ve never seen before… It’s the same episode, but seen from a very different angle. Very difficult to explain, as it really needs to be experienced...

So, download, and have the pleasure of experiencing the intimacy of something that although old, now feels pretty new (despite it being in good old black and white)!

Once downloaded, burn the ISO image to a DVD and watch it back on a proper CRT TV (for the absolute best possible experience), otherwise the main purpose of the restoration; reinstating the video-look/feel will be completely lost – along with that real experience of intimacy mentioned above.

Enjoy, something the BBC would’ve never allowed you the pleasure of – and dare I say, a real World First, into the bargain!

One of my favourite episodes. It may not be full of action, but I think it sums up Steptoe nicely. Thanks for the restoration... again, I have asked this before, are you Santa Claus? I can't think where else these could be coming from to be honest...

Thanks, guys...

Dare I say... Someone needed to do it...

Steptoe and Son (S01E05) The Diploma is coming real soon... Later followed by Steptoe and Son (S01E06) The Holiday.

Ain't having much luck with The Piano, for some reason... Looking at what ended up on the DVD set, you'd think it would turn out nice... But that isn't the case... Further investigation is needed... and hope I'll eventually be able to do something with it, because if I'm not happy with what comes out at the other end, then it won't end up here... Which would be a shame, as I'd like to complete series one, if possible - before moving on...

So watch this space...

Ah... forgot to mention The Bird... Haven't taken a proper look at that one, yet... So hopefully, it'll be okay, to go...
