I'm doing them all - well, all those that are on the DVD box set - I'm around half way through...

If there's enough interest, then I may be persuaded to post the links to the others...

Remember...:

If you're not going to watch this back on a proper CRT TV (remember those...), then use the following media player and settings:

VLC media player is an ideal candidate, if you plan to watch this back on an LCD or LED flat screen computer monitor.

Available here for Windows: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

Or here for Mac OS X: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

Once installed, and the video is playing back, hit Pause, then go up to the Menu > Video and change the following two default settings:

1. Video > Deinterlace > On
2. Video > Deinterlace mode > Linear or Yadif (2x)

Once those are set, then hit Play...

Enjoy...

Hi Pixel, thanks for bringing “Meet the Wife” to our attention, hadn’t heard of the show before :).
I’d only seen Thora Hird in “Lost For Words” (1999, 75 min) for which she got a Bafta. Based on Deric Longdon’s auto-biography it also stars another favorite actor, Pete Posthlewaite. Digressing here, but you probably recall the May 2016 topic ‘Another potential disaster’ and what were widely touted as 2 forthcoming Carry On movies. As an expert consultant on the film Robert Ross excitedly announced “Carry On Doctors” already had a script (written by Tim Dawson & Susan Hickson) that he’d read and approved of, with Jonathan Sothcott producing. Doctors was to be released this year, the announcement was published all over the world in many languages yet the film has vanished as though it (and Carry On Campus) never existed. It's easy to surmise what happened, as you undoubtedly realize this sort of thing has become common in the entertainment industry on both sides of the pond. Anyone’s guess if the Dawson/Hickson script was written spec but once a production is announced, what typically happens is certain key production people/corporations walk away with huge fees whether or not casting/studio contracts are assured. Meanwhile Carry On fans worldwide are left holding the bag, frustrated at having their time wasted. Was cautiously optimistic last year but now I must agree with you and everyone else that replied to that thread: leave the beloved Carry On’s be, it's preposterous to restart the franchise without the original cast.
Good to see you posting again, it’s been eerily quiet here lately .

Hi DOY!
Always enjoy reading what you write, you really do have a vast knowledge and a way with words...

If you were to publish a book, I'd certainly buy it...

Please do keep 'em coming...

Cheers Pixel, always enjoy what you’ve written too but blush at the suggestion of “vast knowledge” and can’t help wondering if you’re being facetious, was so thick in school I failed milk . As to "a way with words", English is a second language here and syntax a struggle so the likelihood of a book is pretty slim. A comic book maybe :o.
Vidfire restoration is fascinating but would be lost on me; having a) poor eyesight, b) grew up with good ol’ CRT and analog, and c) distrust a global industry founded on planned obsolescence where an expensive upgrade is
required every sodding month. I'm wondering, can it significantly repair poorly stored, heavily damaged source material like the opening scenes of “Is That Your Horse Outside”? Does it repair damaged audio tracks too?
And welcome to the forum Alexcole & Snodge :).

Hi DOY,
I was being genuinely honest, not facetious.

For me, what you write are gems written in nicely sized paragraphs...

I may not always comment on your posts, but you can be sure I've read them - and, probably, been ever so slightly educated, into the bargain.

As for restoration/s... Think I may have already had a go at Is That Your Horse... I'll have to see if I can dig it out. Not everything I've restored over the years, has ended up here - even if it has been Steptoe related...

Audio can be restored pretty well, mostly... But, sometimes may require a fair amount of manual work - that I certainly don't always have the time to do...

BTW, I watch everything I restore on a 21" CRT (a SONY studio monitor). The quality just isn't the same, on any type of flat panel, for the sort of material I restore...

Will continue this later...
