Homes Fit For Heroes (digitally cleaned)

Postby snodge » Sun Apr 01, 2018 11:55 am

Though you might like to see my efforts, There was so much grime and mud on the original DVD copy that further cleaning
just makes all the defects even more prominent,That said i think its a bit more watchable than the DVD and with a more fluid video look, until a 16mm in good nick turns up that can be scanned with a wetgate scanner- this is probably the best that can be done.

As always a favorite and vastly underrated episode, Homes Fit For Heroes.
The image is bent (and no burlesque jokes please) but that looks outstanding!
...I'd not noticed till now the 2 rubber hoses stuck in a bottle in the foreground.
Albert enjoyed his booze, but I didn't realize he'd go so far as to syphon a drink .

Thank you :)
Most of the black and white Steptoes suffer from bad warping which looks worse when taking a snapshot of a frame
I guess i could of picked a better frame though !

Yeah whats going on with those rubber pipes in the bottle?

maybe part of a wine making kit :)

Yes, this is brilliant work... Tempted to say, this is now the definitive edition! Sure no one else will ever get it looking this good...

I know how much effort you've put in to this.. So thanks you so much, for that - sure we all here, appreciate your hard work very much...

I, for one, will not be trying to make it any better...

Thank you so much,That means a lot coming from the restoration guru :)

Indeed many hours were spent trying to lessen those baked in black vertical lines,
tbh Even if a decent 16mmm turned up a it had a wetgate scan I'm not sure it would reduce those black lines
as they are more of a stain than a true scratch, But of course the extra definition from a decent scan would help
the restoration work for sure :)

...Guru? It conjures an image of Pixel wearing a loin cloth, full lotus posture, surrounded by admiring supplicants waving their joss sticks. OH just kidding :o. Loin cloths might be inappropriate for those black tie occasions
but they're really quite comfy. I can’t wear them anymore, having reached a certain age I’m obliged to
wear an oversized Hawaiian shirt (not a muumuu, tsk) to conceal this tummy .

Are you certain it wasn’t just the idea of “admiring supplicants” that made you smile?.
Have you ever attempted full lotus? As you may know, it’s a meditation posture where the legs are affixed into an impossible position. There’s no doubting the great wisdom of questioning the ‘ego’, but tying oneself into a
pretzel never seemed to help me, and like Albert (see: The Three Feathers) I’ve tried it.
But unlike Albert, luckily I didn’t need to be untied by bystanders.
Fortunately there was a tin opener within reach :o.

As someone who grew up thin as a nail, the weight gain is alarming enough.
But far more foreboding to male self-esteem is hair loss. I’m so bald now,
that I have to shave my goolies so my scalp will feel better about itself .

True story…many years ago an aged cousin who loved to laugh and was going through
chemotherapy...at a family gathering she came up to me, grinned ear to ear and
without warning fearlessly removed her wig…I didn’t know she had lost all
her hair, bald as a coot. My jaw dropped and without thinking, I said,
“It’s uncanny, but you look just like Sinéad O'Connor."
…It’d been a lot funnier if she knew who that was,
but mentioning Brian Glover would’ve been tactless :o.
