Harold Steptoe: Ah, you recognize it! Takes you back to your lecherous youth, does it?

Happy Christmas all :D

Hey what did you get from Santa ?
I got a watch one of those velcro strap ones, Jack Vettriano (Scots artist) calendar, Book about famous killers  and bottle of 'Brut' after shave - I thought they stopped making it in the 70's I'll ad it to the other dusty bottles of after shave I've been given over the years in the back of the wardrobe . I never use the bleedin stuff

Santa brought "I, Claudius" and what a treat to watch it again! Hadn't seen it since it was originally broadcast here some 35 years ago. In retrospect it's easy to see why the series initially received tepid reviews, an everyman's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, but what an extraordinary cast. Didn't realize who they were at the time but all made such an unforgettable impression, too many performances to mention. Some scenes are still quite shocking, I'd forgotten Sian Phillips being hit in the face with what appears to be dung, that was startling lol. And Brian Blessed, who doesn't like the man? He's brilliant! Good fun and depressingly relevant as history repeats itself on a far vaster scale. Did anyone else notice the title theme's striking similarity to Bernard Herrmann's "Mysterious Island" score?
Aftershave lotion, ugh. What possible purpose could it serve? We all get the stuff as presents at one time or another and wonder...why? lol Could've been socks or a tie or even a pair of Y fronts, yet you chose perfume. It's like that Rising Damp crimbo episode, Rigsby looks at his gift and says, "Bath salts?! Are you trying to be funny?"

After years of dreaming I finally took delivery of a brand new Bose !. I have been watching and bidding them on E bay for weeks and old models go for £250 -300. So I decided Sod It I recently turned 50! and ordered the latest Wave 3 for a penny under £600 -ouch!!! :x It's 5 monthly payments of £120 so I'll be eating tinned sardines until June :(

The sound really is amazing though listening to my CDs I hear features that I never heard before 8)
