Apart from Steptoe do you have a favourite TV theme tune ?. I heard The Rockford Files theme for the first time in years the other day. Great theme from a great 70's show 8)

Oooh good one Archie !!

I can’t think of one theme tune I like because of the music, more than the memory it recreates.

I do remember however ‘Eye Level’ making it to number one in honour of a Dutch TV detective.

I am a fan of Mike Oldfield and his music and I remember his album Platinum being used as incidental music on some kids TV quiz show. I can’t remember the name of the show at all.

Also Everton run out each Saturday at home to the Z cars theme tune. However that may have more to do with Bill Kenwright trying to scare of a few scouse scumbags !!!

I've got a few faves. One Foot In The Grave, On The Buses, Til Death Us Do Part, In Sickness & In Health (good ol' Chas & Dave lol), Bottom and, a little left-field this one, 24 (lol) are a few that spring to mind at the moment.

The Monty Python Theme (The Liberty Bell), always brings a smile to my face as well as the tune at the end of the Benny Hill show where they are all running at 90 miles an hour.

Bit bizarre as my musical taste veers towards heavy rock but I like the theme to the original upstairs downstairs. It evokes memories of my sister and her mates babysitting when I was around 8 or 9.

The Tales of the unexpected tune was written by Ron Grainer, the Australian composer who wrote the Steptoe theme Old Ned :D
