Archie,

Although you haven't tried Region 1 discs yet I've decided to give it a punt.....

Less than £18 seems good value even if I give it to my son or daughter for their bedroom.... (Does anyone else remember the arguments you could have with your parents over your favourite programmes when we only had 3 channels, one telly and no video players!!!!)...

Cheers
Graham

Aye and the telly was black and white :)

I've been using the player all weekend, I rarely watch the rubbish they show on the telly and it is performing well :o

The region 1 disc arrived from the US and it plays perfectly :D
This means of course Steptoe fan's living abroad can order DVD's from sendit.com for example and play them on a cheap multi region player.
Just to be on the safe side I'll keep the player for region 1 disc's in case it get's stuck on a particular region :!:

Archie,

funny enough but I received my compacks player today....

blimey it's so small and perfectly sums up the brand name but like you said it has played both Region 1 and 2 discs perfectly....

Not sure on electrics but if compatible by just changing the plug it's well worth a punt for any of our American friends after any specialised Region 2 DVD's like Steptoe....

Not long back I was looking at a DVD box set of a 60's series called "Man In A Suitcase" on ebay but lost interest when I found it was only Region 4, might have another look now I have this player! :)

Harold; the cheapest supplier is http://www.sendit.com/

They are based in Jersey which means they don't charge VAT , I have ordered several DVD's from them and they ship worldwide :)
