My friend Ilovesteptoe, Where are you?

Ilovesteptoe, where are you mate??
Its been a huge pleasure to chat with folks here over the years, some of whom I’ve got to know well.
And as any regular visitor to this, Bob’s Steptoe Appreciation Society forum recognizes, ILS is one of the
funniest and fiercely intelligent people here. Yet, without warning...a few months ago he suddenly vanished.
He casually mentioned his illness to Bob in another thread, so I’m not breaking confidence that ILS was quite ill. Nonetheless.....never, not once in our many, very lengthy private conversations over the years, did he ever moan.
And his mind and sense of humour was so finely tuned, I’m having great difficulty believing that all of a sudden he cashed in his chips. I won't believe that. Neither was he ever one to lose his bottle, so an unpredictable impatience
or boredom with this forum is more than a little unlikely. I’ve written him at home and there’s been no reply, that scares me. I know he was very close with family so if his brother reads this, please let us know what's happening.
I deeply regret putting off writing this till now, but we haven’t forgotten you ILS. Please give our best to Molly, Smudge & Coconut. Gobeithio eich bod i gyd yn iawn mate, rydym i gyd yn colli yn fawr iawn.
As always,

There’s not a day goes by, that I don’t think of my very good ffrind, Ilovesteptoe.
Been a year now since he posted, but I refuse to think of him in the past tense, it feels counterintuitive.
In our many public and far lengthier private conversations over the years, ILS’s comments effortlessly
conveyed his great kindness, generosity and tremendous sense of humour. And though he doesn’t
drink, wherever ILS is, you can bet he’s keeping the ale cold for all of us. Associating people with
music is something that comes naturally and ILS’s exuberance, and joie de vivre, has always
reminded me of Frank Zappa’s blisteringly complex guitar solo, “Heavy Duty Judy”:
Hope I haven’t laid it on too thick...but as Archie*
(whom we haven’t forgotten either) wisely reminded all of
us…do keep in touch with the people you most care about.
