My life in the biz....

Postby harryfielder » Sat Jan 31, 2009 12:59 pm

I spent 32 years working in the biz as a Supporting Artist and got to work with Steptoe and Son a couple of times... :D

STEPTOE AND SON… Episode porn Yesterday…
I’d already worked on a couple of Steptoe films but only as a Supporting Artist.
Now I’m in the cast as a disgruntled man who has some words to say near the end of the episode.
We rehearsed for five days at the North Acton Hilton, (BBC rehearsal studios) then do the live (Audience) show on the Saturday night.
Harry H (good name) Corbett and Wilfred Brambell were charming throughout the week as were the rest of the small cast.

When it was shown on the BBC it had an audience of 23 million viewers and my name was on the credits.(Not bad for a boy that used to swim in the canal)
I’d like to thank Douglas Argent for using me on that show and many shows after.
.........Aitch, :D

Dear Harry, or should that be Aitch.

Thanks for your excellent post.

It is so nice to hear from somebody who worked on the show.

I plan to de a feature on the making of an episode and I may therefore ask for some other input as some point in the future.

I will also post your link on our links page soon. One back would be welcome.

Keep posting

Bob

Hello Harry Aitch, seen alot of what you have starred in without even realising. It's only through the On the buses forum that you are a member of, that I know more about you.
You have been in some of my favourite Carry On films and Fawlty Towers, On the Buses, Raiders of the Lost Ark. Etc Etc. You must have met some amazing comedy heroes over the years.
All the best mate, and by the way

I say aitch, did you get to socialise with Harry.C and Wilfred.B between or after filming and if so have you any funny stories to tell? Or what about Basil cleese when you starred in "kipper and the corpse" any stories of MR. Fawlty??? :D

Hiya Guys, when you work in the biz you are only friends with the top stars while you're on that production. You don't get to mix with them after work.
Sometimes when you're on location with them for a few weeks on a production you'll end up in the hotel bar with them after work and I've done plenty of that.
I still talk with some actors I met 40 years ago.( but I can't drink like I used to   )

Harry, you say that you still speak with actors that you met 40years or so ago, who is the most recognisable person from tv or film that you still keep in touch with?
