Did Edward Marlin play "Uncle Stavely" in one of my favourite 70's sitcoms "I didn't know you cared"

He didn't say much in this show either as he was deaf. Every so often when he though the family were talking about him he would say "I heard that ........Pardon" ?

Great comedy. Peter Tinniswood at his best.

ooh i used to love nearest and dearest, when nellie used to say 'Has he been?' used to crack me up, apparently hilda baker and jimmy jewell couldnt stand the sight of each other in real life, still, i used to love that show, she used to make me laugh so much, always looking at her watch and then saying 'ooph i must get a little hand for this watch'
Thats not dust, its bleedin topsoil.

On my 69th birthday I arranged to meet some of my school mates that I grew up with in the 40s/50s and go back to Islington to where we played as kids.
We went to look at our old schools...GONE....
We looked around the famous Chaple Market....Nearly GONE...
The North Pole pub that I played my first gig in all those years ago is now a ''POSH''Diner..
We went to the house I was born in and had the cheek to knock on the door.
The new you owner made me welcome and I told him how the house was with Mum,Dad and six kids living in four rooms with a WC out in the garden and a tin bath in the kitchen.
Two sisters slept in one bed and four brothers slept top and tail in the bigger bed... Only trouble was the four boys used to ''pee'' the bed.
On my birthday for a treat Dad would ask '' What end would you like to sleep tonight son''
I said ''The shallow end please Dad''.....(joke)
If we'd of had any money all those years ago we could have bought the house for £500....
It's now worth £500,000...(missed the boat there)

After walking round for a few hours we stopped for a couple of pints (or three)
Best part of the day....

Aitch, I keep meaning to ask...

You were there on the set with Harry and Wilf... What do you make of the rumours that by that time they couldn't stand each other and that Wilf was always 3 parts olivered and insulted the audience...

Many have made these claims but no one who has ever worked with them has confirmed them (and we all know why... In my opinion Hercules made less manure than those people did...)

But now we can have it from someone who worked with them.. what were they like??

P.S. And were there many out-takes? As an archive totter I'm especially interested in this!!

I worked with Harry and Wilf 3 times and it never showed if there was any anger between them.

This is from year 1973 on my web....

STEPTOE AND SON… Episode porn Yesterday…
I’d already worked on a couple of Steptoe films but only as a Supporting Artist.
Now I’m in the cast as a disgruntled man who has some words to say near the end of the episode.
We rehearsed for five days at the North Acton Hilton, (BBC rehearsal studios) then do the live (Audience) show on the Saturday night.
Harry H (good name) Corbett and Wilfred Brambell were charming throughout the week as were the rest of the small cast.

When it was shown on the BBC it had an audience of 23 million viewers and my name was on the credits.(Not bad for a boy that used to swim in the canal)
I’d like to thank Douglas Argent for using me on that show and many shows after

I have seen this epsiode (porn Yesterday) hundreds of times so I'm amazed I still see something I haven't noticed before...

One of the extras in the church hall scene is the actress Linda RTobson, who went on to star in "Birds of A Feather".

Never noticed this before!!! I'm going to look out for other future stars in uncredited roles...
