John Hoawrd Davies, producer and Directorof all but one series 7 episodes, has passed away.

John started as a child actor, playing the part of "Oliver Twist". As a Producer and Director he brought us the likes of "Fawlty Towers", "The Good Life", "The Goodies", "Monty Python's Flying Circus" and many MANY more. He WAS british comedy!

His Steptoe episodes remain some of the best loved amongst fans.

Though I saw it only once and don't recall where, David Lean's "Oliver Twist" remains a vivid childhood memory.
Primarily because of the high standard of Lean's direction, Guy Green's photography...
and the performances of Alec Guinness and John Howard Davies.
It wasn't till the arrival of dvd's and the internet that I made the connection and realized, that's him!
That wee fella grew up to produce/direct many of my favorite shows from across the water, comedies that will never age.
RIP John, and Thanks.
