Thanks Harold, I'm on the mend. The experience hasn't made me one of those annoying militant anti-smokers, still one can't help but feel pity for young people that are aggressively encouraged to smoke fags by an industry that doesn't give a solitary toss (toss being the most polite word I could think of) about the human toll in it's wake.

I recently quit smoking after nearly 18 years. Surprised at how easy I found it

Thanks Tom, I'm on the mend.
And Cheers Bob! I don't know how I missed your post, sorry bout that.
No worries gents, cheeky as ever me. But the mere smell of tobacco makes my skin crawl now.
Cigarette addiction is interesting. There's a great deal of evidence (scientific, not heresay) to suggest nicotine isn't as habit forming as we've been led to believe, not nearly as addictive as the glamorized ritual of smoking. Lighting, ashing, something to do because it's cool and accepted. "As Seen On TV".
And everybody wants to be accepted. It's a ticket to the boneyard.

Horse manure and bus tickets. I bet those fags weren't as toxic lol

Often wondered where Ray and Alan got that image, it's very funny but uncharacteristically off the wall. Or so it seems.
I've held a lot of bus tickets in my life, as one does. But I've never smelled one, have you? Never seen anybody sniffing bus tickets either. Human beings do a lot of weird stuff, is this one of those things people do but never admit to each other? Sniffing bus tickets lol.
Horse manure is another matter, Mexican border towns used to (probably still do) sell horse manure cigarettes to tourists. It was actually used as an advertising gimmick. Printed right on the package: horse manure. At least I hope it was a gimmick, one whiff of those horrid things and you'd pause to think, "This isn't a joke, is it?"

Cheers Steptoe and Son Scrap :)
Very grateful to everyone but this is becoming a bit embarrassing, didn't mean to divert the topic.
If others are encouraged to give up the fags, that's brilliant. It's far easier to quit than both pro and anti smoking industries would have you believe. Few things more foolish than deliberately inhaling hot smoke, just ask a fire fighter. I'm still sitting on the second hand smoke fence though, banning cigarettes in public, as if tobacco was responsible for every cancer in an environment crammed with pollutants and mutagens of all kinds. Where's the logic in that?
Don't ban tobacco because you're told it's evil, do it for asthmatics and the elderly. For children that learn by example. Do it because it smells nasty! p u
