Eric Sykes RIP

Postby bob » Wed Jul 04, 2012 10:05 am

Just heard the sad news about Eric Sykes.

He was a contemporary of Ray and Alan and was a member of Associated London Scripts along with Spike Milligan, Johnny Speight and John Antrobus. What laughs they must have had.

My favourite memory of him was playing with his toys in the bath before getting his toe stuck in the tap !!

He will be greatly missed.

I have put a tribute to him on the home page.

Very sad news. There was just something about him that was inherently funny.

I also remember him stealing the show in a cameo in Victoria Wood's 'Dinnerladies' playing Duncan prestons dad...

So you all know, Bob has assured me his absence is a temporary one and he'll be back to his old tricks soon.... (I'm not sure if that's more of an announcement or a warning!!!) :)

A Magnificent actor and writer I'm sure we will all remember Eric as the inept sailor binoculars in hand in The Bargee :D

Very sad news, My father and i have fond memories of Eric in The Plank and other roles.
I wish i'd seen the tv show ''Sykes and A'' with Hattie Jacques, it looked interesting on the news tribute.

Just doing a bit of checking up on the show "Sykes and A " and surprise, surprise it has also been a victim of the BBC razor gang. 59 episodes were made and 34 episodes have been designated as lost, along with the 1962 'Christmas Night with the Stars' short.
The edition of Christmas Night with the Stars also included shorts from Steptoe and Son and The Rag Trade which to this day are still missing.
I wonder what the Steptoe shorts were.
