Totally gutted, to report Rik's death.

Kevin Turvey, The Young Ones and Bottom were all part of my youth.

Not to mention - The Comic Strip, Flash from Blackadder and many more.

Have fun upstairs with 'Mr Jolly' Rik

I just heard the news on Radio 2 and was shocked, I admit I had a tear in my eye.
He was one of the finest comedians of his generation, he had a quad bike accident a few years ago and finished up in a coma for several days I wonder if this contributed to his early death ?.

I'm going to watch a couple of episodes of Bottom & Filthy Rich & Cat flap tonight 8)

RIP man

Very sad news, 56 is way too young for such a brilliant, influential performer. The quad accident that nearly killed him was my first thought too, but that was so long ago and in later interviews I was struck by how fit he seemed. Thinking of his fearless, high energy performances (the ID unleashed) we’re reminded the flame that burns twice as bright burns twice as fast. Here’s hoping he will continue to stir comedy up. Cheers Rik.

I was and still am shocked by this terrible news and the haunting image of poor Rick walking his dog literally hours before he died still sticks in my mind. I loved him as a kid in the early eighties roles as Rik the iconic Young Ones, Kevin Turvey, filthy rich and cat flap, Alan Bstard not forgetting the hilarious Bottom series and live shows comedy films ect. Rick was also a good straight actor and all-round good bloke and what a waste and a tragedy to pass at such a young age of 56 too. :|
