R.I.P Patsy Byrne 1933 - 2014

It's just been announced that actress Pastsy Byrne who played the hilarious role "Nursie" nursemaid to Elisabeth the 1st in Blackadder II has died at the age of 80.

Beside being a very good comedy actress Patsy appeared in serious theatre plays from Shakespeare's twelfth night to countless British tv series such as the classc Z cars series, Inspector Morse, The tv adaptation of Chronicles of Narnia " The Silver Chair" (1990) , Maid Marian and her merry men children's TV series alongside fellow Blackadder actor Tony "Baldrick" Robinson (1992).

Wish I’d had the opportunity to see more of Patsy Byrne’s work.
Her ‘Nursie’ (Blackadder) and the poisoner ‘Martina’ (I, Claudius) were enough to convince even the most casual observer that she was an extraordinary actress! Despite those characters not being lead roles, she made them iconic. No mean feat.
