Saddened to read that Hiroshi Koizumi has passed on. His C.V. is too long to list here, but some will recognize him from Toho Studio classics such as “Mothra” (1961), “47 Samurai” (1962), “Matango” (1963) and “Dagora” (1964). Here’s the Dagora trailer:
Obviously H. P. Lovecraft inspired, and there’s virtually identical imagery in Guillermo Del Toro’s “Hellboy” (2004) reminding us of the truth of Coco Chanel's axiom: “Anyone who thinks they’re original has no sense of history.”
A very fine actor, RIP.
