Shocking to think he learned of the cancer only days ago. Motorhead wasn’t my favorite cup of heavy metal tea but he did pen a favorite song, which he dedicated to the Ramones (their version of the song roared at a time when the Ramones were struggling for new material.) He certainly had stage presence and that Rickenbacker sound just can’t be beat. Must watch that Young Ones episode tonight and raise a pint to Lemmy, RIP.

Sad indeed. And now we discover two more icons have passed on...

Meadowlark Lemon of the Harlem Globetrotters.
He was an inestimably positive role model for impoverished inner city kids with no outlet other than soot covered basketball courts. To see the brilliant, hilarious Globetrotters whip a team of buffoons might’ve been predictable, but was always gratifying. And...

George Clayton Johnson, who penned some classic, timeless episodes of Rod Serling’s original b/w Twilight Zone.
RIP both.

Meadowlark Lemon of the Harlem Globetrotters

Perhaps the first and only person on this board to feature in a cartoon series ..

Wasn't there a cartoon with the WWF wrestlers that had Roddy Piper, though?
I thought we'd nick a wreath off one of the graves as we went in.

I was saddened when I read this last week, and to think that I was talking about him in the boozer the night before not knowing about the event.

We'd been talking about his autobiography White Line Fever where it was quoted that he got thrown out of Hawkwind for doing the wrong sort of drugs.

Also when he was asked about his belief of how he kept on going in the music industry he said "I just keep breathing!"

RIP Lemmy!
