Good innings, nevertheless very sad news. Most folks here will know that George A. Cooper, like Harry H...
was a member of Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop. An extraordinary actor, George didn’t seem capable of
a false step, regardless of role. I remember him best in “Dracula Has Risen From the Grave” (1969), Rising Damp (1974) and of course 2 truly remarkable Steptoe episodes, "And Afterwards At..." (1965) and “Oh, What A Beautiful Mourning” (1974). Cheers Tony for letting us know, I'd rather get the news here, and not from some sleazy tabloid.
BBC's website didn't even bother to mention his passing, yet again demonstrating disgracefully misplaced priorities.
And 'The Guardian' (so called) took 2 weeks to get their research wrong in an obit where they claimed that George appeared, quote, "on Steptoe and Son in 1962". If George A. Cooper appeared in the first series of Steptoe, can someone please tell me where? Apparently I missed it. He's always been one of our favorite actors,
a tremendous talent. Clear weather George, and smooth sailing.
