88 is good innings, nevertheless we’re deeply saddened by news of his passing.
Ian’s short stature seemed illusory when he worked his extraordinary craft.
His C.V. is obviously too long to include here, but I remember him best
from his film roles; including “Alien” (1979), ”Time Bandits” (1981),
“Henry V” (1989), “The Fifth Element” (1997), “From Hell” (2001),
“The Aviator” (2004) and Peter Jackson’s J.R.R. Tolkien pictures.
One of the finest actors of his or any other generation, stage and screen.
Absolutely first-rate artist, he made acting appear effortless,
no mean feat. RIP Ian, should you choose to do so.
