It seems the Steptoe baby only exists in the movie life of Albert and Harold.

Graham has picked up on some dialogue in “Murder in Oil Drum Lane” where a number of inconsistencies were explained. I can’t recall any mention to the baby in the play, nor in any of the TV scripts.

The national tour came to an end last night and I know some of the play has changed since I saw it in the West End, so perhaps this aspect of the Steptoe family history has been clarified.

Archie,

The marriage and "steptoe baby" was only ever alluded to in the first movie...

The play never mentioned his marriage to the stripper Zeta, If I remember rightly Albert and Harold found the baby on the doorstep and as it turned out, wrongfully assumed it was Harold's and Zeta's...

It was only after the baby was taken back by its real mother that Harold went to see Zeta at "work" and found out that "their" child's real father was a backing musician ( this was made obvious by him being black and the child being half-caste ).

That's right, the child isn't Harold's, which is why there is no reference!

Sorry to disagree but, "She's on the nest with old oily" and also Albert saying with great delight "She's blown you out" and what about harold saying to albert " your'e like a fly round a cows ar$£hole" they have to be the best lines :P

Wikipedia names the baby actor as Selina beckett so it wasn't a baby boy as in the film?

Must be cool to know that he and his brother and the one who played the baby in the club starred although too young to remember alongside two greats Harry H Corbett & Wilfrid Brambell in one of the cult classic comedy films of the 70's. I'd be shouting from the rooftops. 8)
