Harold's Phone Number

Postby Curious » Fri Aug 08, 2014 8:03 am

Is it ever mentioned what phone number Harold Steptoe can be reached at?

Thanks! Chasing down some obscure trivia and I thought I'd ask all the experienced folks before I go watching episodes for hours :)

I dont think so. They always answered the phone with "Steptoe and Son" rather than reciting the number (why do people do that?). A good question, I am sure you would have had more responses but this has been overlooked a little. Does anyone else know this?

I have his mobile. :P
I thought we'd nick a wreath off one of the graves as we went in.

The only times that they use the telephone is in both of the TV Films.

First when Harold is getting an ear bashing from Zita's Mother for being late for the wedding.

The second was in the second film when Harold rings the boozer trying to reach Dr Popperwell.

No phone number is ever given.

You've just now reminded me, in ‘Seven Steptoerai’ before the fight finale Harold picks up the phone to ring old bill, begins to dial but is interrupted by Frankie Barrow et al. That absurd, oversized polka dot bow tie Henry Woolf is wearing is remarkably similar to the one Richard Beckinsale wears in the Rising Damp episode ‘A Night Out’. Leonard Rossiter asks, “Does it light up?” Those mad 70's fashions! :o
