Even more funny now how G & S slipped them past the BBC Censor....

Many many years before Spike Milligan & Co slipped a character into The Goon Show past the BBC Censors called Captain "Hugh Jampton"...

Apparently I think it was Dennis Main Waring who was the producer caught on that it was slang for Army soldiers for a "Large Hampton Wick" (Another bit of slang for you...) and went absolutely ballistic...

Then again when the Goons started in the early 50's some numpty toff in charge asked about this GO-ON show that had just started, so I'm not surprised they wouldn't understand the "localisms" (I can't find the exact word that was quoted) that the Vicar said on reading Harold's piece on totting for the Parish Times for "Men of Letters""......

In a quite a few episodes Albert when refering to somebody on the scrounge says " his he on the Ear-Ole again" been trying to work out what Ear hole rhymes with in conjunction with on the scrounge. Any cockneys please enlighten me!!!!!
