Flm references in S&S

Postby thrupnybit » Tue Apr 15, 2008 9:41 pm

I'd just like to say that a couple of Steptoe and Son episodes refer to two of my favourite films:

Spartacus
and Jason and the Argonauts.

Its in The Bonds That Bind Us where Albert sees Harold playing with exercise equipment and goes, 'Oi, Spartacus!'

And i can't remember which episode - 65 today? - where H is looking through what's on at the cinema and Jason and the Argonauts is playing.

There's a few other funny Bond/Dracula references throughout too. Loads more others too, probably. Never have seen Fellini's '8 1/2'

Let's not forget 'I am Curious Yellow', which, in all my ignorance, I thought was made up - you can understand my thinking!!! But apparently it's a real film - als let's not forget 'Nudes of 1965'!!
