It amazes me to see "Back In Fashion" amngst so many... alright, its not a patch on some episodes but I don't think it's that bad - the bit with the photograhers doing the deal is brilliant, especially how Harold gets the extra tenner off his Dad. It does start slow, and Harry looks very bored, but I like it and watch it quite often.

Winston - Amen to that! "The Siege of.." is flawless in my opinion, not a single criticism can be made, in my view. Of course, the good thing about Steptoe is that it affects different people differently. And the good thing about Steptoe is that we are all gentlemen (and ladies) and allow each other our diverse views!!

Welcome BLAKESCREWE

I am surprised Back in Fashion gets the thumbs down from many people. I agree it isn't the funniest, but the ending makes it all worthwhile.

Maybe it's just me but I always consider 'Is That Your Horse Outside?' as the one episode I don't have a lot of time for. It just seems nowhere near as funny as any other episode and strikes me as out of place in terms of plot and style. Please feel free to dispute this if you think I'm talking cobblers lol

It is interesting how different people relate to different aspects of the show.

Some like the more political episodes while others prefer it when the focus is on the business.

Nothing wrong in not liking any particular episode.

Off the top of my head I can't actually think of an episode I don't like at all. They are all watchable, though some may depend on my mood how funny I would think they are.

Seance In A Wet Rag And Bone Yard became rather ludicrous with the introduction of Patricia Routledge. Never been overly keen on Back In Fashion either, at least not the final ten minutes or so when the actual modeling takes place.

Welcome md 99

Lots of people have said they are not keen on "Back in Fashion".

As a point of interest the two lowest scroing episodes on our favourite episode poll are "The Holiday" and "Crossed Swords" both with just 2 votes each.

Its great to see the varying opinions on here,i can't agree about "Seance" though md,the first half of the show is Albert & Harold at their best i think, the ouija board sequence is bloody brilliant! i find the opening where Harold burns his socks on the electric fire hilarious as well!

I'm going to have to say The Seven Steptoerai. It strays too far into Last of the Summer Wine "old people doing unlikely stunts" territory. Kung-fu was spoofed far more effectively in the Goodies episode 'Kung Fu Kapers' - ECKY THUMP! 8)

A lot of people don't like Back In Fashion but at least it has Roy Holder (wearing a cool Robert Crumb-inspired t-shirt) and the lovely Madeline Smith.

The Steptoe and Son film didn't work for me. Harold marrying a stripper didn't ring true for a start - he preferred "classy birds", as witnessed in Loathe Story - and the idea of Albert falling for a drag act stretched credibility to breaking point. That said, I love Steptoe and Son Ride Again to shreds because it's more faithful to the series and has far more genuine laughs, in particular the scene in the butcher's shop and when Albert tries several pairs of glasses on the dorg - "Oh, these are nice, they're gold, they match your coat!".
DEHHHH!

Evening all!!.

Regarding Black people in Steptoe amd son. There was a Black bus conductor in Live Now P.A.Y.E Later, and a couple of Black kids at the ice cream van in porn Yesterday.

One episode that I rarely watch anymore is Steptoe A La Carte. I don't dislike it, the story just doesn't seem to fit with the rest in that series. One I do dislike, though, is A Cuckoo In The Nest. That one was horrible and should never have been made.

Cuckoo in the nest? No way.
What about the lines " point percy at the porcelain " and " he took the horse out, he just did'nt bring it back " and Arthur " well well well!" Albert " who are you?"
Harold says " he's a crook , he's a ponce" Albert replies " you don't like him do you?"

l agree, if there is one episode l don`t like so much its Cuckoo :D
