Out-takes Bloopers

Postby steve sheffield » Tue Dec 30, 2008 9:39 pm

Does anybody know of any Steptoe and Son bloopers?
Never seen any myself over the years but if there was you can just imagine Wilfred and Harry pi$£ing themselves just after dropping one!

This is a question on many peoples minds.. there are none known and the series left a few mistakes in, but there must have ben some. It's more likely to find them from the movies rather than the series....

Maybe one day...

Watched the piano recently and as Albert and Harold are in the throws of moving the carpet it looks like you get a good reflection of somebody, maybe camera crew in the pic on the wall directly behind our two heros.

Yeah I pointed this out in an earlier thread in another section.. the guy picks something up off the floor in the reflection. This adds to the grittiness of Steptoe to me. I kinda like that it isn;t polished and perfect.

In watching "upstairs, downstairs, upstairs, downstairs." Harold is sat in the kitchen with the doctor making him a cup of tea while the doctor tells of Albert's illness.
As Harold pours the boiling water out of the kettle you can clearly see a shadow of somebody on the floor to the living room behind them. Don't forget Albert is upstairs in bed with a bad back so it can't be him.
maybe it's the ghost of Glady's Steptoe?

Good spot Steve.

I'll have to try to get a screen shot so that we can have a bloopers section.

i've forgotten which episode it is, i'll check later, but there's one shot of Harold in front of a cabinet mirror. as he's turning around he bumps into the mirror, it swings towards the fourth wall, and we can very briefly see the studio television camera in the reflection. you've gotta pause/step frame to see it but it's there.

To my knowledge there is no actual blooper footage out there, as in, unused mistakes, but a fair few little hiccups here and there form all involved - not just Wilfrid as "When Steptoe met Son" tried to make out!!

In "divided we stand" Albert must grow a foot taller.
As we know Harold is alot taller than Albert, however when Harold eventually sits down to read his book in peace and quiet you can see Alberts hat go by the top of the partition as he walks back in. As Harold stands by the partition a little bit later in scene he is shorter than the top of the partition. So , either Albert grows a foot taller in that scene or he is definately standing on something.

Just spotted one but you'll have to be quick.
In come dancing where Albert is teaching Harold to dance, they are interupted by the gobsmacked milkman.
Harold asks the milkman how much he owes him?
As the milkman replies 22/6 you can clearly see the microphone drop down.

It was thought there were no outtakes for only fools but some appeared last year, they were from the early episodes as well. Despite quite a few people saying outtakes were destroyed.

"The Stepmother." Albert informs Harold that he intends to wed again.
Harry turns around, and you can clearly see the microphone boom moving in the mirror behind him.
Did they improvise? That's a very good question.
I'm guessing they didn't because there was no need, the scripts were so excellent and tightly knit.

Erm in men of letters when Harold is typing he is wearing a shirt and tie. Then un the next bit its after the magazine was printed so days later but Harold is wearing the same shirt n tie, unusual as not meant to be his normal outfit.
