"The Stepmother." A very funny episode, but Harold deliberately winds up Albert and his bride to be (Joan Newell) until she leaves weeping. Woman really got the short end of the stick, the pair of them laughing over the meal she prepared as she cries her way home alone. That's not just sad, that's unfair! In a just sitcom universe both Harold and Albert would've woke up the next morning with a mild case of food poisoning lol. Stumbling over each to be first to the bog.

For me the saddest moment happen is the very first episode The Offer at the end with Harold trying to move the hand cart and being unable
Sets the tone for the entire series knowing he cannot escape

Well said. I think that sums up "Steptoe and Son" in a nutshell.
