Here's a new question then...

The Steptoes are headlines!
...Which newspaper was it?

They were in the church parish magazine that was confiscated by the police because of Albert's rude crossword.

Or do you mean a real world newspaper?
I thought we'd nick a wreath off one of the graves as we went in.

Funnily enough, your question 2 has answers.
Hint: “headlines” traditionally denotes page one.

If you're talking about real world, they've been on the cover of the Radio Times, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you're thinking of.

Nope, it definitely appeared in an episode, a very popular one too.
The Steptoe's were front page news and it was a real newspaper, at one time.
We're looking for the name of that newspaper.

It’s been nearly a week now so maybe someone else would like a go :).
The answer was Paris Soir (Pilgrim’s Progress). Albert and Harold both appear on the front page.

The curious bit, is that newspaper hadn’t been in publication for decades when Pilgrim’s Progress was broadcast (1965). It would be very surprising to learn anyone continued to use or another publisher later adopted the name Paris Soir, considering the original newspaper’s unpopular (to say the least) ties to Germany and Vichy France.

Were they Gauloises? I used to smoke those wretched things.
Edit: I know the correct answer now, but had to watch the episode .

The answer is Rothman's King Size. Advertised on top of a tunnel at the airport.

Your go DOY!

Thanks Nobby. The image is a bit grainy and always assumed they were directions for drivers, I never imagined it was a fag advert over that Heathrow tunnel. We haven’t had cigarette adverts on telly or radio since 1969, but magazines are rife with em and they're frequently designed for and aimed at children.

Next question...
What was pictured on the front of the birthday card Harold gave Albert?

I would've guessed it to be a horse or sumthink.

Upon re-watching Sixty-Five Today, it seems that I was one horse out.
