Was only thinking of him recently after seeing him in an episode of the Professionals, I knew he was in the Steptoe film but didn't know his name. As you can see in the link he was in numerous things.
Born in Lincoln and was in the classic film "Zulu" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_McCarthy_(actor)

Neil also appeared in the films Zulu and Where Eagles Dare.

Mentioned on page 1, he played Sgt Jock Macpherson in a small role on Where Eagles Dare.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Milo O’Shea (The Dr in the 2nd Steptoe film) He has been in heaps of shows. The West Wing, Only The Lonely with John Candy, Carry on Cabby, Cheers, Frasier and The Commish just to name a few.
Always a likeable character.

Milo O’Shea 86 years old and still kicking. I always get a laugh when I see him as Dr Popplewell with his coke bottle glasses.

Just purchased the boxset of "some mothers do av em'" with the infamous Frank Spencer.
As somebody has already mentioned Neil McCarthy plays Mr. Bedford the hotel manager.
In another episode where frank is at the job centre, we get the Vicars wife from "porn yesterday" and George A Cooper (uncle Arthur) both in one scene as very frustrated staff trying to get the dithering Frank a job.

I just saw Mike Reid (the comic from the Steptoe movie) in Minder.
Playing Vernon, Arthur’s latest minder, after Terry got his hand broken.

Let's not forget his long run as Frank Butcher in Eastenders.

Can anybody remember Mike Reid in the childrens show "Runaround"?
Just regarding the working men's club in the film with Mike Reid as the comic, our old friend Harry H Fielder is just behind Harold and Albert in the audience as Zita the stripper appears.

Been watching Norman wisdom today in the film " up in the world" and up pops Colin Gordon aka the Tax Inspector in "live now paye later" playing the part of a spoilt brats uncle.
Wiki claims he was also in the Steptoe and son episode "the holiday" anyone?

Tis he as harold once said ! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0330101/
It quotes Colin Gordon dies in 1972 so he must have filmed "Live now P.A.Y.E later" shortly before his death.

Reading on, it is actually his last role.
