What episode had most characters ?

Postby Archie » Wed Aug 15, 2012 6:09 pm

I watched Back in fashion earlier on and noted it had a number of characters. Does anyone know the episode with the most actors ?.

If we don't count the church scene in 'And afterwards at...' where there are lots of no speaking parts, or any shots of cinemas etc, actual speaking characters must be 'Oh What A Beautiful Mourning...' surely.

Characters or just random people in the scene?
Anybody enlighten me as to which episode it was where Albert and Harold were arguing on the aeroplane about both world wars with all around them. Quite alot of people in that scene alone. Not as many as in OH what a beautiful mourning I think tho'

If you look on the Galton and Simpson website www.galtonandsimpson.com in the Steptoe section it tells you how many were in each episode - how many men, women and extras :D

That episode was Pilgrim's Progress, with Frank Thornton guest starring in one of his numerous steptoe roles.

Frank Thornton doing one of the worst French accents ever, it's hilarious :)
"Wallah Wallah Catsmeat" has lots of extras, mostly rag and bone men in non speaking parts.
If teeth count, "The Economist" must be a record breaker 8)
"...Ride Again" probably has the most bystanders, folks coming out of shops or just walking down the road, watching the totter's funeral procession being filmed. I've often wondered, where are they now?
