Which radio episodes?

Postby BLAKESCREWE » Fri Jan 13, 2012 4:28 pm

Have never been commercially released, is it around 8 or so? I believe THE HOLIDAY, STEPTOE A LA CARTE, THE STEPMOTHER and 76 CHRISTMAS SPECIAL were 4, I should know this being a fan for decades! :D

Ironically the most popular episode “Divided We Stand” was never made for radio. The episode was just too visual to be converted for radio.

"Pot black" never made it to radio, again too visual.the "'73 xmas special" didn't either (I think).
The 2nd ('74) xmas special did and is out there,
as is "A la carte","the stepmother","The bonds that bind us" & "My old mans a tory".

I have all the above but not on "Official" releases.

The last volume on CD was 4 TV soundtracks so were the last 8 radio eps not good enough quality to be released on Cd or tape?

THE BIRD
THE HOLIDAY
THE STEPMOTHER
THE MUSICAL EVENING
THE BONDS THAT BIND US
STEPTOE A LA CARTE
MY OLD MAN`S A TORY
CHRISTMAS 76

wonder why? is the quality bad or are some missing from the archives?

Bob,

The last episode of series 6 "A Christmas holiday" (27 mins) is the only radio version of the '74 xmas special i've managed to locate,is there a longer version doing the rounds?

Hi Karl

Apparently so, Just before Christmas this year BBC4 extra (formally BBC7) broadcast a 40 minute version of the episode.

I'm just listening to "Two's company" with June Whitfield as "Daphne" she would have been good in the TV version too,a real looker in her day,i recently watched "Carry on Abroad" she played mrs Blunt,Stunning in that also.

I think we can safely say June is a national treasure................ :D

Couldn't agree more about June.

She is fantastic. She must have worked with every big name in the business and gave as good as she got.

I have a signed photo from her which takes pride of place on my bookshelf.
