RIP Frank Kelly 1938 to 2016

Postby Ilovesteptoe » Sun Feb 28, 2016 3:33 pm

I'm heartbroken to announce that the legendary comedy actor Frank Kelly aka Father Jack Hackett in the classic Father Ted has passed away aged 77. He starred in three series, appearing in all 25 episodes of the show which ran between 1995/98. He also starred in many TV drama series, films, and even had a music career too.

Trivia: Did you know Frank Kelly died on the same day as his fellow cast member Dermot Morgan did. Morgan passed on the 28th of Feb 1998 of a heart attack, the very evening after filming the final episode in 1998, and 18yrs years to the very day. Spooky coincidence. RIP Frank. Thanks for the laughs. :|

Sincere condolences to Frank’s family, friends, and his fans worldwide.
Father Ted is a favorite, totally unique and often blindingly funny.
Graham Lineham tells a hilarious true story about Frank...
It seems some kids came to Kelly’s door seeking autographs. Terrified, until they realized Frank wasn’t in fact Father Jack, he happily chatted and signed their bits of paper. But after a while he wanted to go back inside, so without warning he suddenly became Jack and bellowed, “FECK OFF!!!” and the kids scattered like leaves, screaming :o.
Must raise a pint of Guinness to him tonight, RIP.

Very heartily seconded, although...
...that would be an ecumenical matter!

Don't tell me I'm still on that feckin' island!
I thought we'd nick a wreath off one of the graves as we went in.
