Bring it back – Vote Now

With the national tour of “Murder in Oil Drum Lane” reaching the end of it’s run last night (13th October 2006), I feel we should try to create some interest in ensuring the play isn’t lost forever.

I don’t know if any of the productions were filmed or recorded, but I think it would be a great idea if the play was either recorded for TV or Radio, or released on DVD or CD.

I am therefore starting the “Bring it Back” campaign, (a better title will be gratefully received). All you have to do it cast your vote below. A yes vote will indicate you are keen for the play to be saved in one of the ways I have indicated above. A no vote will mean you would prefer just to live with the memory.

I would love this filmed and saved for posterity if not already done so as the writers and artistes involved deserve the recognition due for such an excellent production.....

It would be a shame if this was to become the real "lost steptoe episode" and that only a script survives.

So yes I would whole heartedly support a filmed record of the play available to the fans.... ( I would support a radio adaptation at a push! ).

I have to say leave it to rest. The original cast is gone, most of the famous guest actors are either gone or retired, it can only do a disservice to the memory of the original to have other actors try to fill their shoes. It's like those horrible JJ Abrams Star Trek reboot films trying to replace the original series cast with new actors.

I can't imagine Steptoe being the same without the original cast. I've never watched a comedy series in that the characters were so 'real', and worked together so well, as Harry H. Corbett and Wilfred Brambell did. I think it would be a real shame for them to be replaced.
