Right!

<cracks knuckles>

1. Steptoe & Son
2. Till Death Us Do Part
3. Not Only... But Also
4. Hancock's Half Hour
5. Monty Python's Flying Circus
6. Only Fools & Horses
7. Bless This House
8. Rising Damp
9. On The Buses
10. The Young Ones

As you can see it's a UK only list but I do enjoy US shows like Roseanne, Home Improvement, Diff'rent Strokes, Taxi, M*A*S*H, Two & A Half Men, etc.

Other UK shows I enjoy are The Good Life, George & Mildred and The Liver Birds. Although when it comes to The Liver Birds, I think I like the regularity of Nerys Hughes' upskirt shots than the actual comedy itself, so I guess that makes me a dirty little bleeder as well as a callous one. Wink

60's and 70's mini-skirts... Sally Geeson... mmm...

One UK show that I used to adore was Fawlty Towers but the over-the-top slapstick-iness and the sheer stupidity of the situations really gets on my 'bristoles' (my best Crossed Swords impersonation, LOL) nowadays. Okay, you can throw rocks at me.

<ducks for cover>

I like Fawlty Towers too, and I understand how clever it actually was, but it annoys me when people put in on par with the likes of Steptoe for one simple reason... Only 6 hours worth of Fawlty was ever made.

Steptoe had 57 episodes - you can judge how good or bad a comedy is after that!! Fawlty had 12. Most writers can cunjure up 6 hours worth.

My other favourite 2point4 chiildren had 58 episdoes. Like them or not, after 8 years they must be doing something right (this only ended due to the stars death, more were commissioned).

I love Fawlty towers (and watch it frequently), but I do think it shouldn't have the 'genius' status that it is given.
