The Holiday

Create your own Episode Review
  First Broadcast : 12 July 1962

This is the first of six episodes that uses a Holiday as a theme.

The repeated themes (i.e., holidays, the business, relationships) are there but are never the same.

The holiday, the first of the six, is where Harold comes home and says he’s off abroad on holiday and Albert, naturally, wants to go to Bognor. They discuss where to go, usually end up arguing over something; in this case, it’s the three pence pieces they save. Harold has his plans and isn't going to cancel them for anyone. Albert has other ideas.

Albert goes off to bed feeling sorry for himself and suddenly has a "heart attack". Probably one of the 15 Harold mentions later.

Fantastically written by Ray and Alan and played by both Harry and Wilfrid,
the doctor is called and he advises Harold that Albert told of past holidays in Bognor and that’s where they end up.

Harold Steptoe in holiday mood !

I think that it was the funniest of all the episodes. Especially when Albert pleaded with Harold to stay with him.

I thought that Wilfrid Brambell was hilarious as usual. Poor Albert. Anyway it was great other than funny.
